The Bank of Astoria is pleased to announce the addition of Pam Marsch as assistant vice president/loan officer with the Astoria branch. Pam has over ten years experience with eight of those years in direct experience with lending. Pam comes to Bank of Astoria from Wauna Federal Credit Union.

 

Portland-based Oregon Rail Corp. has purchased American West Steamboat Co. and the Queen of the West sternwheeler that makes regular stops in Astoria, Oregon. The 230 foot Queen carries up to 163 passengers on cruises on the Columbia, Snake and Willamette rivers of Washington, Oregon and Idaho. For more information, call 503/226-8181.

 

The Astoria Regatta Association has announced the 1999 Astoria Regatta Grand Land Parade award winners. Approximately 2,000 people lined the streets of Astoria for this year's parade, which was sponsored by Bank of America, and 80 entries took part. The float with the highest of all scores was the Daffodil Festival "Romance in Bloom." Other winners for floats, drill team and other categories included Cashmere Community Float, Capital Lakefair, Washington State Apple Blossom Festival, Port Orchard "Pharaohs Phantasis," Wauna Federal Credit Union, Doernbecher's Children's Hospital, Issaquah Salmon Days Festival "Last Catch of the Century," Get-A-Life Marching Band, Renton Eagles, Astoria High School Rallys, Clan Gordon Pipe Band, Wells Fargo Stagecoach, Clatsop County 4-H Equestrian Court, Astoria Clowns and the Seattle Seafair Clowns. Congratulations to all.

Vicky Rutherford, associate broker with Pete Anderson Realty, Inc., Better Homes and Gardens, Astoria branch, has been awarded the Accredited Buyer Representation designation by the Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council of the National Association of Realtors. Rutherford joins more than 12,000 real estate professionals in North America who have earned the ABR designation. The requirements include completion of a comprehensive two-day course in buyer representation, a written examination of legal & practical aspects of client representation plus practical field experience.

Also from Pete Anderson, Realtor® Gail Lansdown has just been granted the professional designation Graduate, Realtor® Institute by the Oregon Association of Realtors®. The Realtor® Institute is a program of the National Association of Realtors® that is administered by the state association. To receive the GRI designation, students must pass an exam after three week-long courses. The curriculum includes real estate finance, law, the Realtor code of ethics, taxation and communication skills.
