- 9/14/99> The Oregon Association for the
Education of Young Children invites all child care professionals
to the monthly meeting for the OAEYC organization, held at the
Astoria/Warrenton Head Start Center, 200 SW 3rd Street, Warrenton,
from 6 to 7pm on Tuesday, September 14. For more information,

- 9/15/99> Child Care Resource and Referral
is sponsoring an overview for family child care providers on
Wednesday, September 15, from 10:30am to noon. This informational
session, scheduled monthly, is designed to inform prospective
child care providers about the current regulations around doing
child care in their home. Providers planning to immediately start
child care may want to return for the 12:30 to 2pm session called
"Child Care Business Basics." For a $10 fee they will
receive a notebook of resources and forms to use, which will
include information on how to start their business and give them
tips about taxes, insurance, etc. For more information, call

Meeting, September 17, 10 - noon, Columbia Technology Center,

- September is Teacher Appreciation Month at
Book Warehouse at the Seaside Factory Outlet Center, 1111 North
Roosevelt, Seaside. All educators (including Homeschoolers, Daycare
Instructors and Registered Childcare Providers) will receive
an additional 15% off their purchase every day when they register
with the Teacher Appreciation program.
- Book Warehouse will also be hosting a children's
storytime, every Saturday, starting September 11, at 11am, noon
and 1pm. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
- We wish good journeys to Fort Clatsop National
Memorial superintendent Cindy Orlando who is leaving the area
at the end of September. Cindy has accepted a position as chief
of concessions for the National Park Service in Washington D.C.
Cindy has been involved in leadership roles with the Astoria
Rotary Club, the Astoria/Warrenton Area Chamber of Commerce,
the Smart Program, the Lower Columbia Tourism Committee and area,
statewide and national organizations promoting the upcoming Lewis
and Clark Bicentennial Celebration. She will be missed.
