- Town hall meetings to discuss Clatskanie
School District Bond Levies as discussed in the September issue
of Lower Columbia BUSINESS will be held October 13 and 16. See
the September
issue for more information.
- Approximately 50 persons attended the Northwest
Oregon Regional Partnership telecommunications conference, October
18 in Astoria. The forum, held at the Duncan Law Seafood Consumer
Center, 2021 Marine Drive, Astoria. from 10am to 3:15 pm. was
hosted by Jeff King, director of the Columbia-Pacific Economic
Development Disctrict. Summary information from the conference
will be posted to the website.
- There are two ODOT meetings planned for the
remainder of October. Tuesday, October 19 at 5:30pm at the Rainier
Intermediate School, 305 Third Street West, Rainier. The topic
of discussion will include widening the highway just east of
Clatskanie from the Swedetown overpass to the intersection with
Lost Creek Road. An October 20 meeting at the Seaside Civic and
Convention Center, 415 First Street, Seaside, will discuss even
more aspects of the Oregon Department of Transportation's 2000-2003
Statewide Transportation Improvement Plan.

- The Cannon Beach, Oregon Stormy Weather Arts
Festival will be held November 5, 6 and 7, 1999.Events will be
held all over town and include visual arts, music, dance, theater
and literary arts. Storm front underwriters are Surfsand Resort
and Wayfarer Restaurant. Businesses providing goods and services
include Hallmark Resort, Surfsand Resort, Tolovana Inn, Blue
Gull, Harrison St. Inn, Sand Trap Inn, Grey Whale Inn, Major
Motel, Webbs Scenic Surf, Guest House Motel, Schooner's Cove,
Dooger's Seafood & Grill, Pizza A'Fetta, Steidel's Art &
Sam Steidel, the Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors,
Food Services of America, Osburn's Delicatessen and Bill's Tavern.
