On the Move - October 1999

Melody Shepherd has joined the Astoria Children's Museum as operations manager. Prior experience includes teaching at St. Mary Star of the Sea School and with the Seaside School District #10. She has a background in early childhood education, has owned and managed a restaurant and has a bachelor's degree in education and liberal arts from Linfield College. She is qualified to teach special education students.
In other ACM news, Cindy Howe, Susan Scott and Brenda Wilson have joined the board of directors for the museum. Howe is the chief executive officer of the Sunset Empire Transportation District; Scott is a retired educator who is interested in improving the museum's exhibits and programs; Wilson is the director of personnel for the Bank of Astoria. Congratulations to all.

Carolyn Kendrick

Carolyn Kendrick is the new human resources administrator for the city of Astoria. Kendrick began her employment with the city on September 23 after working four years in administration/human resources with Bio Oregon in Warrenton. Prior to that she worked with Wauna/Fort James for five years as a payroll coordinator She is originally from San Diego, but has lived in Astoria for the last 22 years. Her responsibilities will include oversight of the over 100 city of Astoria employees, the hiring process, human resource issues and workers compensation. She replaces Brenda Wilson who moved to Bank of Astoria.

Leslie Pittman, owner of Tillamook Bay Trading Company, has moved her business to Rockaway Beach, Oregon. The expanded store is located at 116 South Pacific, on Highway 101 in the Salt Air Plaza. She also has new partners, G. S. Sticks and Geri Lee. Call 503/355-2300 for more details. LCB
