On the Move for November, 1999

 

Jim Casterline, partner in ownership of the Casterline Exchange Service Company, has recently been elected president of the Federation of Exchange Accommodators. The FEA is a national trade organization for companies that conduct tax deferred exchanges. FEA is a ten-year-old organization with over 200 member companies in 37 states. Jim Casterline opened his exchange company, along with Pacific Title Company in Seaside, Oregon four and a half years ago.

Casterline is the author of the Exchanger's Handbook, is the past president of the Seaside Rotary Club, and sits on the board of directors for the Rotary club, Seaside Providence Hospital and the Seaside Museum.

 

The Clatsop County Board of Commissioners has made the following appointments: Larry Meyers to the Clatsop County Housing Authority. Meyers has been a resident of Clatsop County for 11 years and is currently working in the area of residential property management. He also serves on the Clatsop County Planning Commission. Kathleen Tone has been appointed to the Human Services Advisory Committee, Developmental Disabilities Council. Tone is a five year resident of Clatsop County and is a registered nurse in the Warrenton/Hammond schools.
In addition, the Board of Commissioners voted to contribute funds to several non-profit organizations. Of 11 organizations applying, those receiving funds funds for fiscal year 1999-2000 are South County Community Food Bank ($1,000), Pioneer House Teen Shelter Project ($5,000), Lewis and Clark Bicenten-nial Association ( $1,000), Clatsop County Women's Resource Center ($4,000), and Clatsop Community Action Food Bank ($4,000).

 

Paula (Andriesian) St. James is the new director of communications for Clatsop Community College. St. James first moved to Clatsop County from Cottage Grove, Oregon, with her family in 1969. She graduated Warrenton High School and attended Clatsop Community College. In 1976, she left for Portland and became a licensed dental hygienist. After living 10 years in Seattle, St. James returned to Clatsop County in 1991.She graduated with honors from Portland State Univeristy's School of Business Administration with a double major in Marketing and
Advertising Management. She has worked with the Miss Clatsop County Pageant and Dolphin Radio prior to accepting the position with the college.

"I came to the college at a good time," said St. James. "There is a lot of work to be done with both internal and external communications." She is involved with the college siting task force, the development of newsletters for the college and in the future, the development of a comprehensive marketing program. "I want to make sure we (with the college) are out there as much as possible, learning what are people's needs for education, and keeping in touch with the community. I am the thru-put point for information."
