Flea Market to Furniture Store
Tillamook Bay Trading Company trades dingy Flea Market for Interesting Space

Jim and Leslie Pittman live on the banks of the Trask River. They moved here a little over four years ago after getting involved with the building of a showcase home in the area for relatives. Jim has been building homes over a fifteen year period and has completed several "Street of Dreams" homes in the Portland area. While Jim started Custom Made Construction and Woodworking seven months ago in Tillamook, Oregon, Leslie opened the Tillamook Bay Trading Company on Trask West Road, at the U-turn of Highway 101 just south of Garibaldi, four months ago.
Leslie has prior experience with North Coast Senior Services in Wheeler, as a watershed coordinator and with a non-profit river cleanup partnership. Her job now, though, is to hold down the fort at Tillamook Bay Trading company.
Tillamook Bay Trading Company is located in the former flea market building that has been vacant off and on for the last several years.
Jim has completed renovation of the 600 square foot building, completed sheetrocking the interior, hung fabric and other materials on the walls and ceilings, finished off doors and windows, redesigned the interior and ...cleaned.
The company offers log furniture, Mexican pine rustic furniture, picket and curly-willow furniture; all kinds of country hand-crafted items, from horseshoe artwork to dustcatcher characters and the Gnomes of Willow Creek; hand-made inspirational dolls and handcrafted items from around the world; Alpaca and wool sweaters; pottery from Mexico; a line of Native American artwork; flutes and music; Boyd's teddy bears; picture frames, scented candles, chainsaw carvings, bird houses, cobalt-rimmed glassware, etc. etc.
They purchase some items from importers and others come on consignment from area craftspersons.
A more expensive item in the shop has been a king-sized canopy bed for $1,000, while other items, like glycerin seashell soaps, sell for $1.
They recently debuted a new line of business at the Tillamook Home and Garden show. They are now a manufacturing outlet for log furniture - large items such as beds.
Stop by, refresh with a cookie and a cup of coffee, and take a look around. LCB
