Promoters of the Riverfront Trolley Pasta Dinner, held Sunday, April 11, would like to thank the many persons and businesses that supported the event. Over 2,700 people attended the free dinner, held at the MERTS campus just outside of Astoria, and over $16,000 was raised. Those monies will be used to buy a diesel powered generator (See LCB April, 1999) to run the recently renovated trolley, called "Old 300." This event was a fine example of community effort, and there is still work to be done. Next steps include building a trolley barn and having regular trolley service scheduled by the first week in June. To volunteer, call Rosemary Johnson at the City of Astoria at 503/325-5821, Ext. 18.
