Wicker Ways Not Changing
St. Helens Retail Store Changes Owners, Not Style
It all started when Jackie Freeburn began "doing
basket parties from her car," 17 years ago.She has since
opened a retail store in St. Helens called Wicker Wonders, now
located at 2017 Columbia Boulevard, just down the street from
the St. Helens-Scappoose Chamber of Commerce.
In the meantime, Ginni Davis had grown up in her family's department
store in Yakima, Washington. Ginni is well familiar with the Oregon
Coast, having been a resident of Seaside and visiting the family
home in Cannon Beach. She began shopping at Wicker Wonders 12
years ago when she relocated to Scappoose.
Just last month, Jackie retired and Ginni took over as the new
proprietor of Wicker Wonders. Though her background is in retail,
"I have been a secretary for 18 years and am starting all
over again," she said.
In addition to Ginni, Wicker Wonders has two part-time staffers
and 2,000 square feet of showroom and storage space filled with
goodies. "I want to emphasize the quality of the gifts will
stay special and unique," said Ginni.
Items include Yankee candles, Margaret Furlong angels, Dept.
56 snow babies and lighted villages, Hearthstone pottery, Backsplash
pottery, Time Works clocks, the Times Ltd. bath products and many
many more lines.
Gift certificates are available, and the store will be open 7
days during holiday seasons. LCB
