Cough Medicine in Cannon Beach
New Pharmacy fills niche made years ago

Put a Smile on Your Face: Lloyd Thomas, recently relocated to Cannon Beach with his wife, Mary Lou, greets everyone with a huge smile and chipper word. He waits behind the counter of the newly-opened Pharmacy and Grapevine Gifts on Hemlock. Now when you have that little ache or pain, or that snuffly nose, Cannon Beach residents may stop by for a remedy and a friendly face.

ccording to pharmacist Lloyd Thomas, there has not been a pharmacy in Cannon Beach for over eight years. He and his wife, Mary Lou Thomas, just opened the Cannon Beach Pharmacy and Grapevine Gifts to "remedy" that situation. (Pardon the pun.)
Lloyd and Mary Lou are both originally from Utah, but when they got married on the beach at Hug Point last year, they just couldn't help looking around a little. "I asked where the pharmacy was," said Lloyd, " and they told me there wasn't one. One thing led to another and here we are!"
Lloyd has been a pharmacist for 31 years. He has owned his own pharmacy business since 1978, which is still located within a grocery store in Utah. He obtained his bachelor of science degree in pharmacy (three extra years of schooling) from the University of Utah.
On April 6, 2000, Mary Lou took charge of the gift portion of the business, named Grapevine after a favorite restaurant, and Lloyd began the pharmacy part.
Orders come in as needed and Lloyd is cheerful with care advice and a ready ability to remember names of customers.
The pharmacy and gift store carry the usual drug store items, plus greeting cards, candy, magazines, film, school supplies, candles, makeup, sand buckets, aromatherapy oils, kites, clocks, and decorative birdhouses ...just to name a few items.
The couple live upstairs, for handy access, in the 2,000+ square foot two-story building owned by Hemlock Properties (Bill Wallace). Beyond the majority of space they occupy, there are still 500 square feet in the building available for another tenant
