Blue Roof/New Roof/Yours?

Estate Sale Over, Now Property Work/Sale Begins

While we do not generally profile individual houses, this is clearly not just any house. The house that is known in Clatsop County simply as the "House with the Blue Roof," now has new owners, a new roof (and more) and a new listing. For a mere $1,555,000 it could be yours!

The 5,500+ square foot home, located at 2511 Malarkey Drive in the gated community of Surf Pines, Oregon has just been appraised and is currently under an extensive remodeling program.

The home was originally built in the 1980's and was built for the family of a man who invented apple box separators. According to the current owner, that man lost the home in the course of a divorce. The second owner was a local fisherman who, from the same source, "was run out of the country with rumors of drugs and smuggling.", followed closely by an Arab "prince" who extensively remodeled the home and then stayed in it only six days, disgruntled with our coastal weather. (He should see it these days, eh?)

The home has a master bedroom suite that occupies the entire second floor, as well as twin bedrooms with a den for children, a guest bedroom and a servants' bedroom. If you include the two changing rooms by the outdoor whirlpool tub, there are eight bathrooms on the property.

The third floor "bonus" room, reachable via circular staircase or private elevator, has full bath and a 2700 view of the spectacular Oregon coastline. To keep from straining yourself trying to enjoy the view, you activate the turnstile located under the floor that rotates the room center a full 3600 - just as nice and easy as you please.

The new owners have so far put on an estate sale benefiting the humane society, added a new roof, installed new windows all around and tile in all bathrooms. The home has the expected Sub Zero refrigerator and three car garage...Rough going, eh? LCB
