According
to a release dated February 16, a number of local and regional
and statewide human service agencies have come together to create
a South Clatsop County Family Resource Center in Seaside. The
agencies include Clatsop Behavioral Health, Oregon Adult and Family
Services, Northwest Oregon Housing Authority, Oregon Services
to Children and Families, North Coast Senior Services, Clatsop
County Juvenile Department, and the Clatsop County Health and
Human Services Department.
One reason for the South County consolidation has been transportation.
The release states agency personnel have recognized for "some
time" the need to increase accessibility of the services
for clients. Some clients in the past have taken the bus for evening
group meetings. The problem has been that bus services cease for
the day prior to the close of the sessions.
Services came online toward the end of last month and participating
agencies see this as more than just sharing office space, located
at 753 First Avenue, between Cleanline Surf Shop and Custer Cottages.
"What is really exciting," said Charles Lame Crow, executive
director of Clatsop Behavioral Healthcare, "is that people
who use a variety of social services will be able to come to one
place to get many of their needs met."
