Randall
Lee was born in Alpina, Michigan, but feels he is really from
Portland, since his parents brought the family west in 1962. He
began installing carpet 25 years ago in Portland, but has been
doing so here on the coast for the last 19 years. When asked why
he has installed carpet for so long he replied, "I had several
different jobs before going to work for a guy that had his own
carpet store. We did this one job and when we were finished, I
stood back and looked at the work. It was such a transformation
from the original, empty-looking house that I knew that laying
carpet was going to be something that I would enjoy."
Randall's employment history took him through four different companies
working by the hour, before starting his own company 22 years
ago. Seven years ago they added carpet cleaning. "It was
such a logical progression," he said. "You would install
some carpet and the homeowner would ask you to recommend a good
carpet cleaner, so we decided to incorporate it into our business."
Keith Stokley has worked with Randall for ten years now, as installer,
cleaner, laminate flooring layer and other functions.
Six months ago they added a mobile van showroom, with the motto
"Showroom On Wheels," "The Flooring Store at your
Door."
Randall's wife, Deborah Lee, has worked as an executive recruiter
and locally for Temps Unlimited managing safety programs and placements.
She now works full-time with Randall Lee's Carpet Service and
is a distributor for Alpine Air Purifiers. She will be the manager
for the new showroom at Seacoast Village Business Park, which
will celebrate its grand opening sometime this month.
Randall Lee's Carpet Service has a warehouse at Olson's Clean
Sweep on Lewis and Clark Road in Seaside, which Randall will continue
to manage once the Gearhart showroom becomes operational.
Along with carpeting, they carry tile, wood flooring, laminate,
vinyl and countertops. LCB
