n> In the February 14 issue of INFORMATIONWEEK magazine Chris Murphy reports "Barnesandnoble.com plans to turn over a new leaf in 2002- by making money. The online retailer of books, music and software said last week its fourth quarter revenue for 1999, ended December 31, tripled from a year ago to $82.1 million. But this figure was coupled with a loss of $38.4 million, 22% higher than the fourth quarter in 1998, when Barnesandnoble. com lost $31.4 million on $25.9 million in sales." In addition, the issue includes an easy-to-read article on website design that would benefit anyone interested in e-commerce. Just a couple of the "top 10 design tips," are to keep the graphics and other bandwidth intensive design elements to a minimum, put the search function in an easy-to-find spot, and make sure your company's name and logo are clearly visible on each Web page.
