For me, this just might be a case of hoping if you build it they won't come!

Three
construction projects currently underway are desig-ned with the
safety of our citizens in mind. The first is the Clatsop County
Jail, second is the Columbia County Jail, and last, but not least,
is the Columbia 9-1-1 Communications District new office.
After years of deliberation and public meetings, the Clatsop County
Board of Commissioners has voted to site the new Clatsop County
Jail at the Warrenton Business Park. The estimated budget for
the project is $20 million and the next step is to select an architect.
The plan is to utilize a pod-system as discussed in the September,
1999 issue of Lower Columbia BUSINESS. The Clatsop County Sheriff's
department will move to the new facility, and discussions are
underway about relocation of the Oregon State Police and a Regional
9-1-1 Dispatching Center also located at the business park. We
will keep you posted about upcoming design and development meetings.
