Retirement Business Bustling in Barn
Pole barn antique business busily approaching 1 year anniversary

Just about 6.5 miles east of the Cannon Beach Junction on Highway 26 is a bright red pole barn filled to the brim with "clutter." Dick and Linda Kidder, former owners of the store at the Nehalem Junction of Highways 26 and 53, opened Country Clutter and Collectables June 12, 1999.
Dick is originally from Vermont but lived in Nehalem before moving further north on the coast in 1977. He has worked as a mechanic and restored old cars, but is trying to slow down a bit. He now travels across six states during the week to bring home more clutter for the store. "Most people go to garage sales. I don't," said Dick. "I bring it home by the truckload."Dick works the store on weekends.
Linda is from Yachats, Oregon and currently works full time as a supervisor at Suzanne Elise assisted living facility in Seaside.
Minding the store during the week is Beverly Stinnett. She oversees the 4,000 square foot insulated, cement floor building filled with one man's treasure. There are dishes and chess sets, pocket knives and candlesticks, plastic cups and comic books, cameras and teddy bears, musical instruments and horse saddles - to mention just a few items. LCB
