Friends of Seaside Library

LISTEN UP!  EVENTS SPONSORED BY THE FRIENDS OF SEASIDE LIBRARY
The Friends kicked off the LISTEN UP series of visiting author readings on December 6th with Craig Lesley, author of Burning Fence, The Sky Fisherman, Winterkill, and other works.  Craig read from his recently published memoir, Burning Fence and also talked about the creative process.  Future events include the Oregon Reads events in January and February, which center around the book Stubborn Twig.  On March 21st Matt Love will be here with his recentlypublished anthology celebrating Oregon's sesquicentennial.  Matt's love of Oregon shines through everything he writes, and he promises us a really entertaining reading and slide show--don't miss it!

FRIENDS STORE SEEKS HELP
The Friends store at the new library is looking for library lovers to staff it.  We have shifts as follows:  Tuesday through Friday 10am to 1pm; and 1pm to 4pm. We would like to expand to the weekends, as well.  If you'd like to help, please call Nancy at
738-8026 or e-mail her at nmt57@msn.com.  It's really a prettyfun job and in between customers you can drink coffee and
read--what could be better?

FUNDRAISING EVENTS
We periodically hold fundraising events for the library needs. Click here to see videos of our recent fundraiser, The Ducky Derby.

GET INVOLVED!

Click here to download a Friends of Seaside Library membership application form.

There are many ways that you can get involved with the Seaside Library. You can...

  • Host a coffee for your friends and neighbors to create a way you can contribute as a group.

  • Volunteer to staff the Friends of Seaside Library store which is open regular library hours.

  • Purchase a $100 tile to have an image or message of your choice become a permanent part of the library building.

  • Donate for a naming opportunity to provide tables, chairs, books or artwork which will have your name on it. Naming opportunities range from a single book for the Opening Day Collection up to $1 million. For $1 million we will name the library itself after you!

  • Visit the new Seaside Public Library at 1131 Broadway for more information.
The mission of the Friends of Seaside Library is to foster community use of the Seaside Public Library; to assist in
developing and implementing programs designed to enrich the literary and cultural life of the community; and to sponsor
and fund, or assist in the funding of, projects which are appropriate to the normal functions of the library, but are beyond
the normal scope and budget of the library.
